On Friday, 10 October 2025, the Veritas Wine Awards Gala Dinner — often called “the Oscars of the South African wine industry” — lit up the CTICC Ballroom with glamour, fine food, and world-class wine. The evening brought together 550 guests to celebrate excellence in winemaking, following five days of intense blind tastings by 88 expert judges from around the world.
This year was a truly special one for Merwida. Not only did our wines bring home an impressive collection of medals, but we also made Veritas history. For the first time since the competition began in 1991, a Pinot Grigio was awarded a Double Gold medal — and that honour went to our Papenkuils Waterblommetjie Pinot Grigio 2025. A proud and groundbreaking moment for our team!
