Our team of resolute viticulturalists, farm managers and workers all strive to grow the absolute best fruit the Breedekloof has to offer.
The winemaking team at Merwida Wines consists of Magnus Kriel, Jéan Aubrey, Sarel van Staden, and Nico Visser.
Along with Lieza van der Merwe (Cape Wine Master and in charge of marketing), boundaries are constantly being pushed through new product development and striving to provide the customer with the best experience when opening a bottle of Merwida wine.
Our cellar team has an average employment term of 15 years which reflects both the expertise and trust built up in our company. Merwida is indeed an “extended” family business.
Magnus’s philosophy about winemaking at Merwida is:
“Great wine is made in the vineyard. A winemaker simply adds the finishing touches. Our wine styles at Merwida are aimed at all markets. Clean, fruit-driven wines that are balanced and precise. Our vision is to expand Merwida’s brand nationally and internationally in packaged format as well as maintaining a healthy balance with bulk wine supply. Ethical trade is also a major priority to fulfil our social responsibility towards the whole community.”
