The Merwida Pinotage 2023 presents a dense, opaque purple-red colour, signaling excellent extraction and concentration. On the nose, it offers a beautifully layered bouquet of blackberry, ripe plums, black cherry, and subtle mocha, interwoven with cloves, Christmas spices, oak spice, and hints of cedarwood. The palate is rich, opulent, and silky, with bold yet finely textured tannins that create a luxurious mouth-coating sensation. Its robust structure is balanced by generous dollops of blackberry and black cherry fruit, accented by intriguing notes of allspice. This wine is mouth-filling and complex, with a bold and generous personality. The finish is impressively long, showcasing wild bramble, spice, and a refreshing hint of mint.
Utterly delicious and approachable in its youth, this Pinotage also boasts the structure to age gracefully for at least eight years from the vintage.
