HARVEST 2022 KICK-OFF

This past week saw the start of the Merwida 2022 harvest season. Our teams eagerly awaited the first grapes to arrive at the cellar, and they were very impressed with the quality of the fruit.

Magnus Kriel, Head Winemaker, is very excited about the 2022 vintage.

He says:  “It seems like a slightly smaller crop than 2021, but the quality looks much better. We are about seven to ten days later than last year’s harvest, but this is due to the slow-ripening nature of the Breedekloof Valley. This allows for longer hanging time and better fruit expression. We are very excited for what 2022 has in store.”
