The Chenin Blanc vines grow in Glenrosa and Sandstone soils and the vines are about 15 years old. Currently it yields at 14 ton/ha. The grapes were harvested very early in the morning in middle March and fermented for three weeks in stainless steel tanks at 12°C.
Guava and Tropical fruit on the palate, with a nose punch of fresh green apple. This wine is well balanced with honey notes and is the perfect medium between fruity and acidic.
It is easy to love this Merwida Chenin Blanc. It is versatile in style and sweetness and has the ability to adapt to a wide variety of tastes. The Merwida Chenin Blanc should be served between 7 - 13°C. Brie, Gruyere, Cream Cheese, Cheddar and Herby Goat Cheeses will make champion tasting partners.
Chenin Blanc has a long history in South Africa and remains the country’s most widely planted variety. Despite the rise of popular varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, more than 20 % of the grapes crushed every harvest in South Africa is Chenin Blanc.
